Position: Policy Analyst Intern
Job Description: Working closely with the both SDCTA's President and Policy Analyst, interns will research and prepare policy positions on such matters as state and local ballot propositions, taxation, regional transportation, public finance, performance of governmental agencies and major public works projects. By participating in substantive discussions with various agencies, interns will gain a clear understanding of the structure and process of the many layers of San Diego county governance. For those students pursing a career in public policy/administration or government affairs, this is an invaluable opportunity to gain practical work experience.
During the program, interns will periodically meet with Association board members and public officials representing a variety of political agencies. Interns will also be invited to participate in SDCTA committees and special events.
Although this is an unpaid position, students may earn academic credit for the internship through their university's internship program office.
Qualifications: The Association is seeking interns with demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and prepare cogent and well-written reports in a timely manner with minimal supervision; understanding of local issues and policy-making processes is helpful.
Interns will be expected to work a minimum of ten hours a week for twelve weeks (a commitment of two quarters or one semester is preferred).

Position: Marketing Intern
Job Description: The SDCTA marketing intern will assist with preparing bi-monthly newsletters and periodic press releases, as well as planning and coordination of Association events. S/he will also assist in the daily operations of the organization, including but not limited to: preparing written reports and memos; maintaining the SDCTA database and membership information kits; researching and responding to member inquiries; and performing other duties as required.
This is the ideal internship for a student pursuing a career in marketing, journalism, public relations or non-profit management.
This position requires a 10-15 hour per week commitment for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Desired experiences and skills include:
Communication, journalism or business majors are preferred.
