SDCTA Welcomes New Officers, Awards Outstanding Members

The Association inducted its 2019 officers and presented awards to members during its annual Officer Installation & Membership Celebration

SAN DIEGO (November 28, 2018)—The San Diego County Taxpayers Association officially welcomed its 2019 officers, bid farewell to outgoing leadership, and awarded outstanding members during its annual Officer Installation & Membership Celebration today.

“Congratulations to all incoming and outgoing officers and all of our awardees,” said San Diego County Taxpayers Association president and CEO Haney Hong. “The Taxpayers Association couldn’t be the effective nonpartisan watchdog it is without the hard work of our members. We want to sincerely thank and welcome everyone who was present today, and can’t wait to continue our work for the San Diego region in 2019.”

Continued Hong: “Special thanks goes to Greg Stein, our outgoing board chairman, who has been with us in this position since 2012. We’ve accomplished some great things under his steadfast leadership, and we are truly grateful for his service. We’d also like to thank Chairwoman Gaspar of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors—it was an honor to have her install our incoming 2019 officers.”

SDCTA bid farewell to and thanked the following outgoing 2018 officers:

  • Kimberly Miller, Treasurer & Vice Chair, Strategy

  • Glen Sparrow, Vice Chair, Issues

  • Nancy Chase, Vice Chair, Membership

  • James Lawson, Vice Chair, Events

"I’m humbled to have served as Chair of the Taxpayers Association for the past seven years, and I'm incredibly proud of our accomplishments,” said Stein. “Our work is more important than ever, and I can't think of a more qualified person to pass the torch to than Kimberly Miller. I have no doubt the Association will continue to thrive and influence good public policy under her leadership.”

SDCTA also welcomed its incoming 2019 - 2020 officers, who were installed by Supervisor Kristin Gaspar, Chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors:

"I believe wholeheartedly in the San Diego County Taxpayers Association’s mission, and want to see its vision realized for all citizens of San Diego,” said Miller. “Greg's legacy is one of accountability, improved government transparency and more educational opportunities for elected officials and voters alike. I hope to continue the excellent work this organization has done."

The SDCTA officers also presented awards to the following members:

The event, held at the University Club atop Symphony Towers, was sponsored by Lyft, Qualcomm and the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.
