Data Analyst
Founded in 1945, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association seeks a full-time Data Analyst to join our team to support the President & CEO, Operations Director, and Policy Analyst.
This position also requires experience, discretion, and the flexibility and agility to juggle multiple competing projects and priorities at any one time, while meeting tight deadlines. Excellent organization, immaculate attention to detail, and quantitative skills are required. Occasional nights and weekends may be necessary.
The SDCTA Data Analyst, under the supervision of the Operations Director and the Policy Analyst, will:
Develop, test, and implement a database infrastructure
Perform data cleansing, merging, calculations, and analysis
Compile data from multiple sources into a usable format for a variety of projects
Develop methods and processes used for data extraction and long-term performance analysis
Handle and standardize large datasets, transforming them into meaningful reporting deliverables
Review and abstract relevant data from files and databases
Code data elements
Create summary charts and tables
Ensure databases are monitored, reconciled and data input completed necessary to enable analysis
Develop quantitative and qualitative research designs and methods for studies
Assist in research and establishment of project metrics
Record project metrics in detail and update as they change
Develop instructions and record thorough notes to create a process operational manual for data collection and analysis
Present findings to staff, offering data-driven recommendations to increase efficiency
Cultivate academic and other partnerships to develop and manage a trusted database of municipal and related data with which researchers could perform data analyses
Provide semi-weekly updates and presentations to Staff
Assist with administrative and meeting support duties as assigned
Prepare and coordinate needed materials for meetings and take meeting minutes
Policy analysis and research support as needed
Event planning and execution support as needed
Membership management support as needed
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with data manipulation and analysis
Experience working with data analytics-driven solutions
Strong interest and curiosity in public policy and discussion in San Diego County (working knowledge of regional databases a plus)
Ability to gather and interpret information and to develop, recommend, and implement solutions
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and to work well independently
High personal work standards
High level of professionalism and ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders and board members
Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
Fast and accurate typing and data processing skills
Self-starter and self-motivated professional who is able to handle and prioritize several tasks and meet deadlines
Experience with Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a Quantitative Field
Experience with statistical software such as Stata
Benefits Include:
Salary range $45,000 - $55,000 based on experience
