Taxpayers OPPOSES City of San Diego Empty Homes Tax Ordinance

The San Diego County Taxpayers Association opposes the proposed Empty Homes Tax which, if approved by the City Council, will ask voters to consider a new annual tax on homeowners starting at $8,000 in 2027, and increasing to $10,000 in 2028. We have concerns about the proposal’s legality, lack of taxpayer protections, and do not believe the City has provided sufficient evidence of benefits to taxpayers.
